CAN I DO THE COURSE WITHOUT ACCESS TO A GYM?
Many of our online students complete the course without ever stepping inside a fitness facility. Many of our tasks require access to some equipment and this can be very basic such as a home gym. Our teachers are fantastic at providing options around learning tasks and assessment tasks based on what equipment or facilities you may have access to. You will need friends or family to role play being clients for some of the tasks so make sure you word them up in advance.
DOES FIT COLLEGE SUPPLY EQUIPMENT?
FIT College does supply a basic health screening pack including blood pressure cuff and skin fold calipers. Students can order this equipment pack by calling head office. Students can pay over the phone and provide delivery details.
CAN I COMPLETE THIS COURSE IF I’M PUT IN COMPLETE ISOLATION?
A large part of the course involves learning materials that require reading or watching before you perform any assessment tasks. These can be completed in isolation and submitted for marking. For those tasks that require clients or small groups we will allow you to move through to the next written task without having completed the practical task which can be completed after you are out of isolation.
I'M STUDYING FACE TO FACE, HOW WILL I DO PRACTICAL TASKS IF I DON’T HAVE GYM ACCESS
With the access to fitness facilities ceasing, you can still continue your theory and knowledge assessment items such as online exams, reports and program writing as normal. Practical tasks such as health assessments, exercise instruction/demonstration and program delivery can be submitted as per instructions in the Cloud Campus. Some practical delivery tasks can be completed and submitted by videos and third-party reports, while others will be submitted and assessed differently. If students don’t have access to facilities or equipment during this time, assessment days will be scheduled at each campus after normal fitness facility operations recommence.
CAN I PROGRESS THROUGH THE COURSE WITHOUT COMPLETING A CURRENT TOPIC?
If you don’t have access to equipment or clients to perform these tasks you can move forward in the course as we have temporarily removed topic lock out meaning you can go ahead to the next topic once all written tasks have been completed for the current topic. As an RTO we can also make reasonable adjustments to the assessment process for students to allow you to show competency through other means such as competency conversations and substitute tasks. Talk to your tutor about these options when you need support.
However, we do recommend that you complete the topics and tasks in the order listed so that you gradually develop your knowledge and skills progressively. If you do jump ahead you may not have learnt the pre-requisite knowledge and skills and it will mean you have to resubmit multiple tasks due to incorrect submissions.
HOW DO I ACCESS THE FIT COLLEGE VIRTUAL CLASSROOM?
Face to face students will be sent a web link each day to visit the FIT College Virtual Classroom. Make sure your email in the Cloud Campus is correct and be sure to have watched the lecture before the classroom opens so you can ask questions and chat about the lecture.
WILL STUDENT SUPPORT SESSIONS RUN AS A VIRTUAL CLASSROOM?
Each Campus will still conduct student support sessions in the normal schedule, however these will all be run through the FIT College Virtual Classroom. To join these support sessions, you must register your intention to participate in the event by logging into the Cloud Campus calendar and finding the session you wish to attend and registering. Prior to the usual start time you will be sent a web link to join the virtual classroom. Be sure to come prepared with questions that will assist you moving forwards with your study.
WHAT CAN I DO IF I AM EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL HARDSHIP?
FIT College understands that sometimes hardship is out of your control and unexpected. Such hardship can be ongoing or temporary and can be seen in various forms. FIT College is committed to helping those facing all types of hardship. We will work with you to find a sustainable solution having regard to your individual circumstances on a case-by-case basis. To assess your eligibility for the Financial Hardship Program and identify a suitable solution, you are required to submit a ‘Changes of Enrolment’ LAR outlining your current situation and your financial circumstances. In some cases, where financial hardship is long-term, we may also require supporting documentation such as a redundancy letter from employer or Centrelink Confirmation. If you are approved, payment options will be presented to you in writing.
The Australian government is also providing additional support – see the links below for further information.
- Newstart allowances (job seekers).
- Job Seekers – coronavirus (COVID-19)
- Youth Allowance for students
DHS has approved student support for those completing many of our online courses if you are studying them full time. If you are already receiving study support this will continue. If you are hoping to apply for study allowance, please go through the standard application process with Centrelink.
AM I ABLE TO WITHDRAW OR CANCEL MY COURSE?
Withdrawing from study means you have no learning obligations to FIT College and your Cloud Campus account is withdrawn from the system. To have your account withdrawn from the system there is a $250.00 withdrawal fee per enrolment. If you wish to withdraw from study, please submit your request and reasons in writing. Withdrawal does not affect your Registration Contract to uphold financial obligations, this remains valid.
A Registration Contract is a legally binding document. If you have paid in full, please review our refunds clause in your terms and conditions. If you are on a payment plan, please be aware this was a legal arrangement for payment of the full course cost (whether it has been accessed). The refund clause will also be considered for those on a payment plan as we view the account based on overall contract value (not what has been paid to date). Please be aware this request is for those undergoing serious extenuating circumstances such as a permanent injury/medical condition and terminal illness identified after registration or in some cases, death. This request also requires submission of supporting documentation to assist your case, e.g.. Medical Certificate.
CAN I GET A REFUND?
FIT College is not required to provide a refund if:
- The student withdraws from course(s);
- The student has changed their mind;
- Student fails to pay an amount they were liable to pay; or
- Student’s personal, financial or family circumstances have changed.
FIT College may provide a refund if:
- The student has identified a terminal illness or permanent disability after registration;
- FIT College is unable to provide the course for which the registration and payment has been made; or
- A credit that relates to an overpayment.
AM I ABLE TO STUDY ONLINE OR CHANGE MY INTAKE TO A LATER DATE?
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, if you are wanting to change your mode of study or the intake in which you have enrolled, FIT College will approve this change at no cost to you. You will need to log into your Cloud Campus Account and submit a Learner Action Request. You will find this on your dashboard under Useful Links.
