FAQs
Am I able to enrol at any time of the year?
Yes. You can start at your convenience - enrolments are open year-round.
Is there a compulsory work placement?
The course is highly practical, with a strong emphasis on hands-on training to equip you with the skills necessary for the industry. We do, however, recommend reaching out to local employers for work experience after completing the course, as this can help open the door to potential job opportunities.
Do I have to attend any physical or virtual classes?
The course is 100% online, but that doesn’t mean you’re on your own. We offer great student support – there are many positive testimonials on the Travel Training Australia website from past students who thoroughly enjoyed the online experience. All tutorials are on demand, so you can watch them at any time, day or night, whenever it suits you.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We have a variety of payment plans for you to choose from.
How soon can I start the course after enrolling?
When we receive your completed enrolment form, LLN Quiz, and proof that your enrolment fee has been deposited (a bank remittance advice is acceptable), we arrange immediate access to Cloud Assess. You can start the course on the same day.
How many hours do I need to study per week?
Everyone learns at their own pace, but as a general guideline, if you aim to complete the course in six months, you should plan to dedicate at least 20 hours per week to your studies.
If you plan to complete the course within 12 months, aim to dedicate at least 10 hours per week to your studies.
There are no fixed due dates for assessments, giving you the flexibility to manage your study schedule. For example, you can ease off for one week and catch up the next. If you prefer a more structured approach, we also provide a suggested study schedule to help you stay on track and complete the course by your target date.
How long can I take to complete the course?
If you are studying the full Certificate III in Travel qualification, your course expiry date is 12 months from the date of enrolment. Options for course extensions are available for an additional fee. If you are studying a short course, the course expiry date will vary. Contact customer service for more details.
What Computer Reservations System (GDS) will I learn?
You will earn your Amadeus certification using the latest Agent Connect platform in a live training environment, supported by a fully accredited trainer with extensive experience in the system. You will learn to make real airline bookings, just like those made by travel agents, airlines and wholesalers, using Amadeus to book flights to destinations worldwide. Training is conducted on the Amadeus GDS training system, not a simulated e-learning platform, giving you authentic, hands-on experience.
What if I need to know Galileo, Sabre or another CRS system?
Once you've been trained in Amadeus, it's easy to transition to other systems; short conversion courses for platforms like Sabre or Galileo are widely available in the industry. Training on Amadeus provides a strong foundation in GDS operations, enabling you to adapt to other systems easily. We use Amadeus as our preferred GDS because it’s one of the most widely used globally and offers a live training environment for practical, hands-on learning.
Do you offer advanced training in international airfares?
Yes, we are one of the few colleges that teach advanced international airfares (SITTTVL010), a highly valued skill for anyone looking to work in the travel industry. We combine this with Amadeus training to give you a realistic, workplace experience. You’ll use Amadeus to make global flight reservations and then apply your international airfare knowledge, along with tools like airline consolidators and Amadeus, to construct the best airfares for each itinerary. This hands-on training closely reflects the day-to-day responsibilities of a Travel Advisor in a professional travel office.
What computer, software, or computer skills do I need?
Our learning platform, Cloud Assess, is designed for flexibility—you can access your course on any compatible device, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. However, we recommend using a desktop or laptop for the Amadeus and Airfares training units to ensure the best learning experience. You’ll need a reliable internet connection with reasonably fast bandwidth, whether through mobile data or Wi-Fi.
What types of assessments are included in the course?
You will complete interesting and practical assessments that reflect real travel industry tasks, such as constructing airfares, preparing quotes, researching destinations, selecting the right hotels and transport options, and creating itineraries. A computer won’t automatically mark your work, but instead, you will be provided with personalised feedback and support within a short timeframe. Assessments are progressive, meaning you'll complete one section, receive feedback, and then proceed to the next. No long essays or reports—just hands-on, relevant tasks to build your confidence and skills.
Can I start my own travel agency after I complete the course?
Yes, you can; however, we strongly recommend applying to join a host travel agency to ensure you have the ongoing support, systems, and guidance needed when starting your business. Travel Training Australia partners with the host agency, Your Travel Centre. Once you have completed the Certificate III in Travel, you can apply to join through their official application process. Your submission will be reviewed and assessed against specific criteria. If your application is successful, you will gain access to essential booking and admin systems, ongoing support, training, and networking opportunities to help you launch and grow your travel business. For more information, please contact our customer service team.
Who will be my facilitators?
Kevin Westerdale and Leanne Townsend are the Co-Managing Directors and Facilitators of Travel Training Australia. In addition to running the training organisation, they also operate TTA Travel, bringing extensive experience in travel agency operations, international ticketing, and small business management. With many years of teaching travel and tourism at leading colleges across Queensland and New South Wales, both hold Bachelor's degrees or Diplomas in Education with a focus on Travel and Tourism. A very personalised approach ensures a supportive, engaging and tailored learning experience for every student.
